Maggie's Surgery :(

Maggie had tubes put in both ears after 5 long months of struggling with double ear infections! We are so glad to have this behind us and it was so easy now that it is over! Very quick surgery and we had the best pediatric ENT (Dr. Mark Reed) - could not say enough good things about this man - he was absolutely amazing through everything! We reported to Blair E. Batson Children's Hospital Friday morning at 6:00 AM. They got us registered and did all the preliminary work and she went back for surgery around 7. It is always difficult and nerve-racking knowing that your child is being put to sleep, but from the time they took her out of our arms until she was back awake it was probably a total of 10 minutes! She did much better than we expected considering that she couldn't have anything to eat or drink after midnight! We were out of recovery and on our way home by 8:30 and by 9:30 she was awake and chasing Addison around the house! Her droppy eyes from the infection cleared up almost immediately and she is already feeling a lot better. Dr. Reed said that her fluid was bulging and worse than he thought - once the incision was made it oozed out (yuck!) - bless her little heart - I know she has been in terrible pain. He said that we should have immediate relief and notice an improvement in her hearing (although she has shown no signs of trouble hearing so now we might just be blasting her out of the room!).

A very special thanks to Suzy for all of the help that she provided to both of our girls during this very busy week of sickness and trying to work some!

Glad Maggie is doing better. I hate you had to go through that. Can't believe how red Maggie's hair is! The girls are adorable! Talk to you soon, Natalie
